TATTOO AFTERCARE

Wash your hands before removing the wrap and cleaning your tattoo.

Only take off the wrap at home. (Public places/restrooms are not sanitary or safe for this process.)

-Initial adhesive wraps can stay on from 8-24 hours (depending on the piece).

If you notice excessive weeping or fluid, redness or irritation, remove it as soon as  possible and continue with the instructions listed below.

(Sometimes a second wrap can be applied and left on longer, if instructed by your artist)

-Regular plastic wrap can stay on from 2-6 hours. (Sometimes longer if instructed by your artist). After removed, follow instructions listed below.  (Do NOT re-wrap)

After removing the wrap, wash thoroughly until skin feels smooth.

Make sure there is no plasma residue left behind. (Skin should no longer feel "slimy")

-ONLY use your clean hands to wash your tattoo.

-Do NOT use a washcloth, loofah, sponge or body brush of any kind to clean your

  tattoo.

ONLY use unscented soap. (Fragrances contain alcohol, which dry out your skin, resulting in rough healing.)

Pat dry with paper towel.

(Do NOT use your usual bath towel)

-Then let air dry briefly.

Apply a thin layer of ointment.

(Use a recommended or provided ointment by your artist)

You can do so for the remainder of the healing process, or switch to an unscented lotion after the tattoo enters the peeling stage.

Do NOT use Vaseline, petroleum, Neosporin or triple-antibiotic ointment on your tattoo during the healing process.

Wash & apply ointment/lotion 2-3 times a day for the entire healing process.

(It can take a tattoo a month or so to fully heal and settle, depending on the style, placement, and your own personal health and care diligence)

If it feels dry or tight, feel free to apply a thin layer of ointment/lotion more frequently.

Do NOT scratch when itchy... or pick, if scabs occur.

*If you have any questions or concerns about your healing process, please contact the shop or your artist directly.

*Clean bedding and clothing are highly recommended during the healing process.  Wear loose clothing (preferably cotton) and avoid constricting or tight fit clothes/accessories that may rub or cause irritation.  Showering is good, however, do NOT soak your tattoo in water for long periods of time.  This means NO swimming or baths for at least 2 weeks.  As well as, NO heavy work-outs and/or intense sweat inducing activities.  Avoid direct sunlight on your tattoo.

Once healed, use sunscreen!
